Honey Bee

We found out this past week that we had honey bees building a honeycomb in our eaves on the second floor.  We were hoping the bee keeper could take them alive but unfortunately that was not the case.  He sprayed them for us.  My husband and son opened up the eaves to find those bees had been very busy indeed.  There were 1000+ bees up there.  You could smell the honey.  Such a shame it had to end that way.  This is one of the worker bees that had fallen off the roof and was walking around.  I just cropped and sharpened.  Shot with Nikon D300s and 105mm lens.  My settings were iso400, f5.6 and 1/160sec.

  1. Awww! He seems sad with his antennae pointing down. A very cool shot. Love the way the background makes his stand out and look so fuzzy. Love it! It also matches the pages of this blog very nicely! 😀
